Box wines are hardly a new trend. In fact brands like Franzia sell so well on the shelves that you might be surprised. So what’s the big story here then, say you? Although, yes the have been around for some time, GREAT ones sadly have arguably not existed until now.
Terre De Trinci is here to solve all that with their super-chic and super delicious new Chardonnay and Sangiovese box wines.
Terre De Trinci winery hails from Montefalco, Umbria. It’s owned by the Mattoni family. If you’re lucky, you’ll run into Lorenzo Mattoni – he frequents Arizona to share the family juice. We saw him last at Bice and were coincidentally already drinking a bottle of his Ugolino—an incredible, deep-flavored, Sagrantino flooded with tastes of blackberry and terroir. Big tannins and a big finish. We’ve also run into him multiple times at Tommy V’s on Camelback after ordering a bottle of his more moderately priced Cajo. The stuff’s amazing and sure-fire crowd pleaser. Funny thing is, we always see him after we order – proving that the wine really is that good.
The winery specializes in the production of ultra quality wines using the indegenous grapes of the area.
Terre De Trinci wines have been rated 90+ points in the Wine Spectator and every year several of the wines win Gambero Rosso “Tre Bicchieri” awards.
Their new box wines are now available at Basha’s, Bevmo and Total Wine.
