This bike was probably stolen. Not by us, not from us, and definitely not for us. Well, kinda for us. About a month ago, we went for lunch with Todd Ellinwood from Cruz Tequila and Lindsey Fosse from Yelp. While chowin’ on tacos at Cien Agaves, we decided to organize an event that would be good for Cruz Tequila – one of our best locally owned tequilas, Yelp – you know, that user-review website that’s killed traditional media as we know it, and the Arizona Taco Festival, otherwise known as world peace.

The event is now set: exactly two weeks before the Arizona Taco Festival we’re going on a bike ride around Old Town Scottsdale stopping at five great taco shops where Cruz drink specials, cheap tacos, and good times await. On Saturday October 1st, starting at Salty Senorita and kicking off at high noon (that means noon, not get high by noon), we’ll embark on The 2011 CruzCruise Taco Crawl and bike to Frank and Lupe’s, Loco Patron, Dos Gringos, and of course, Cien Agaves, with about an hour allotted at each stop for all to enjoy $5 Cruz tequila shots, $6 Cruz margaritas, and taco specials galore. The order of the bars is secret, so there’s no bike line jumping.

And the best part, you don’t even have to wear sunscreen – if you wear a sombrero. We’re having a “Best Sombrero Contest”and the winner receives a pair (that’s dos!) of VIP tickets to the Arizona Taco Fest! A $200 value, these tickets are good for free food and drinks inside the Macayo’s VIP tent and allow for free entry into the Tequila Expo, where samples of over 100 tequilas await.

So, back to that snappy bike above. Tyda needed a bike for this CruzCruise so he hopped on Craigslist. Found one he liked, drove out deep into the westside Avenues, and ended up at some guy’s house literally filled room-to-room with bikes. We highly doubt that A) that these bikes were just given to this guy and B) his asking price of $175 was non-negotiable. Tyda picked the thing up for a hundo. It’s a little small, but hey, after a couple shots of Cruz tequila, the bikes’ size (and that weird grinding noise when it turns left) shouldn’t matter at all.

So dust off your bicycle and come for a ride with us. If you’re bikeless, call Tyda. He’s got a guy.

See you at Salty’s Old Town at noon high, er, high noon, on October 1st!
