Aaron May Cooks For Laughs
Featured Posts,The Dish
Seems like the ubiquitous Chef/Owner/Operator/Raconteur, Aaron May is at it again adding another feather in his ever-growing culinary cap.
This time, May who just recently did a little consulting at Black Chile (see our recent post), also is gettin’ all up in his CityScape neighbor’s biz over at Stand Up Live, a “classy” new comedy club. Stand Up’s owner, Joel Bachkoff, hired May to head up the club’s menu as well as its new sister operation, Copper Blues, a restaurant-lounge.
Don’t fret, as any good comedy club-goer knows, good Chicken Fingers are part of the obligatory experience, but May promises to ratchet up the recipes whether it’s St. Louis-style ribs or something simply fried.
Copper Blues certainly seems to bare a heavier May touch focusing on moderately priced American Tapas, including lamb sliders with Maytag blue cheese and Harissa aioli, roasted fingerlings with bacon and tomato jam and lobster roll with tarragon mayo and pickled Fresno chiles. A smaller lunch menu will feature nine items for $9. Catchy huh?
“We’re going to debunk the notion that comedy club food is terrible, and we want to make Copper Blues a dining destination in its own right, not just an adjunct to the comedy club,” says Bachkoff.
Look for Copper Blues to open in early June.
