NEWS “FLASH” – YELP GOES ROGUE.

When we heard that mall security almost took some high-level Yelp employees to jail, we thought “wow, didn’t think a 2-star review was akin to committing a crime.” But it turns out, the scuffle had to do with a review of a different kind …

Yelp employees recently hit Scottsdale Fashion Square and performed their Flash Mob sequence right in the food court. Other Yelpers filmed the action, which can be viewed by clicking the picture below.

Also filmed–One of Yelp’s local masterminds Gabi Kepes-Messinger and her husband Jared (pictured above) getting reamed by police for the illegal gathering.

Could this stunt signify Yelp’s desire to hold onto a vibe of irreverence? Their slick, giant corporate office in the Scottsdale Galleria building is made almost entirely of conference rooms, sales cubes, and team building games. Maybe Yelp is trying to stay on the cutting edge by taking it to the streets.

Ironic, because we at EATERAZ are trying like hell to “go corporate.” 401k’s, health insurance, sick days, a copy room …. We want it all. So listen, Yelp, we’re flattered that you essentially want to become EATERAZ, the kind of website that might get arrested for pulling an illegal public stunt. If you ever want to trade lives, we’d be happy to assume possession of your Galleria digs. We’re in that old building across the street. It might not be big enough for all of you, but it’s a perfect place to hatch crazy illegal publicity stunts.
