NOODLE IT OVER
The Lookout
Our obsession with food has hit a tipping point. Think about it, how many food blogs did you know about two years ago? Did news shows have full kitchens for chef guests? Come to think of it, what did chefs even do 10 years ago? Cook?! It’s hard to imagine, but we’ve always had a deep, humanistic connection with food, and it was fine and good and subtle and a thing of purity until we began packaging it all up. The new film “Eatrip” examines the former – how we connect with food and how food, in turn, connects us.
The film is being shown in The Chef’s Loft at Southbridge (7114 E. Stetson Dr., #250) on the Scottsdale Waterfront next Wednesday, September 29, at 6:30pm and 9pm. Tickets to the screening cost $15 but come with food from Sapporo, Cherryblossom Noodle Café, and Sushi Roku. While the food’s being served with Sapporo Beer and various iced green teas, the evening will also include drum performances, cooking demos, and Japanese snack tastings. All of that good stuff goes on between the two showings – so you’ve gotta decide if you like dinner and a movie, or a movie and then dinner. Proceeds from this event benefit the Japanese Friendship Garden.
