KILLER STINGRAY!
The Dish,Videos
There was a point there when a second location for Stingray Sushi was an iffy enterprise. We all saw the “Coming Soon” signs at Biltmore Fashion Park, but also saw the halted construction for many months. Today, we are happy to report that the place is officially open to the public and it looks freakin’ gorgeous. Designed with the same bright orange fabrics and heavy-grained woods as the original Stingray on Scottsdale Road, the Biltmore location will keep the same menu and similar hours.
Construction slowed down along with the economy, but co-owner and head chef Andrew Nam decided to ditch the waiting game and just get the place open. His timing couldn’t be better, with Christopher’s in its groove, True Food Kitchen killing it, Zinburger within weeks of opening, and Houston’s construction moving along (they’re moving from the Esplanade over to the old Chevy’s space).
Nam’s past includes stints at the Fishmarket, Ah-So, and RA. He and current partners Greg Donnally and Bryan Chittenden make up the Old Town Group (OTG), who also own Drift and Geisha A Go Go. Tonight, you can help celebrate their new Stingray with a $10 donation to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Phoenix while getting served tray-passed drinks and sushi from 7-10pm. Or, just stop in for the full dinner experience – it looks like it’ll be a good one.
Meanwhile, watch the video linked here for an interview with Andrew Nam shot literally just a couple hours ago.
