TASTE 2009
The Dish
Sunday night the ever popular Boys & Girls Clubs, Taste event at Kierland Commons hit a high note. Unlike past years where mass hysteria and over-crowding set the tone, the current recession turns out to have been a good thing. With ticket sales taking a dip, the Executive Committee decided to simply retain the leftover tickets and protect the value for those who did pay, rather than just hook-a-brotha-up.
And it worked. The event was easy-going with a great flow of traffic. Remember the crazy lines? Shorter. Remember that drunk bitch and the dude in the Affliction t-shirt? Gone. And remember thinking “Is this the FBR?” No more. So a word to the Taste committee: Bravo. Maybe next year you can raise the ticket price, sell the same number you did this year, and have people walking away thinking “hey, that was a truly classy event, I’m glad I went.” Because we’re still reminiscing over what a good time that was.
