Remember the days of dining in front of your tv as a kid with that tray you could pull up to you as you sat on the couch? Maybe you still do. Either way, Chef Justin Beckett and Canal Restaurant want you to feel all warm and cozy still.

As a clever throwback to the original Swanson TV Dinner, Beckett has concocted a state-of-the-art gourmet version that they will be reinstating each Tuesday beginning May 12th. As part of their Tuesday Night TV Dinners series, diners will get to choose from TV Dinners such as the Chicken Pot Pie pictured above (shameless branding rip off courtesy of us) as well as:

  • Grandma’s meatloaf with panko fried maui onion rings, mushroom pan gravy, marcona almond green bean almandine, mashed potatoes and kaffir lime-lemon jell-o
  • Filet mignon beef stroganoff with Crème fraîche, watercress and pickled onion salad, parker-house rolls and apple cobbler
  • Beer batter fish-n-parmesan garlic fries, green salad, chipotle-corn on the cob and meyer lemon meringue tart
  • Mushroom and goat cheese enchilada platter with creamy tomatillo sauce, corn, zucchini and onion salsa, pinto beans, rice pilaf and a caramel churro
  • Lobster macaroni and cheese, with sweet corn, chilled asparagus salad, and double chocolate brownie with rainbow sprinkles.

Each is priced at just a mere $19.95

AND IF THAT’S NOT ENOUGH, YOU ALSO GET….to watch old black and white tv shows on their super screens, such as Gilligan’s Island (we remember that in color though, Gilligan’s red shirt and white hat,) Happy Days, I Dream of Jeannie, Bewitched, I Love Lucy, Lassie, and the Dick Van Dyke Show.

Not sure what is more brilliant… the Tuesday Night TV Dinners concept by Justin or the crafty Photoshop guru wordsmithing the report. Good work to Sir Beckett and Senor Ricardo Phillipe’…”Oh Lucy I’m home!”
